Six Smart Women Discussing Doctor Who

This game may not be called You Monster, You, but boy did it end up making us feel like monsters! Join Deb, Erika, Lynne, and Tansy as we make DIFFICULT and TERRIBLE choices that YOU made us pick between. Seriously, I have words for some of you…

Huge thanks to Sage and Kim of Head Over Feels! We blatantly and unashamedly stole borrowed “This or That” from them after their lolarious on-stage version with Paul McGann at LI Who. We appreciate the inspiration, lovely ladies!

As Deb said, there will be more ToT in the future, so feel free to fill this comment thread with suggestions for future editions. Or just yell at us (nicely) for the PAINFUL choices we made.

I’d like to close by apologizing to the 7th Verity, Marie Cat.

  1. Reblogged this on Confessions of a Curator, Editor, Geek and commented:

Today’s unicorn chaser… Doctor Who Style

  2. The moment the War Chief and the Doctor recognize each other. Absolutely!

  3. Todd Haney said:

    OK:
    Sontarrans or Rutans
    Capaldi or Pertwee
    Alastair or Kate

Also: The Brig vs Capt. Jack…”Five rounds rapid!
    “Again…
    “Again…
“and again, ad infinitum, ad absurdum….”

As ever: “Ladies! Ladies! Please! Continue…!”

  4. During this episode there is reference to how Donna left the Tardis in Journey’s End and how angry this made people, yet during the discussion on Love & Monsters no similar concerns was made about Ursula, Elton’s girlfriend, who is turned in a paving stone sex toy. Has Verity ever discussed Love & Monsters in depth?

If you haven’t I think it would be an interesting topic for a future episode, especially if there was chance to compare it to the end of Journey’s End.

Oh and before I finish, I’ve got a suggestion for the next time you do this game:
    Black & White or Colour!

    Thanks

I have to say that “Love and Monsters” is the only DW story that my Mom watched that made her fall asleep out of boredom, and I was delighted that she missed that ending with Ursula’s fate as a paving stone all being worth it because she could give Elton attention. (I never mentioned the end to her; she didn’t need to know, and it couldn’t have mattered much if she slept through it.) I love how RTD wrote things like that and Donna losing any agency thanks to the Doctor, but Moffat’s the terrible misogynist. Yeah, whatever, fandom.

  5. Some suggestions for next time:

    Season One or Series One?
    John Simm or Michelle Gomez?
    Kamelion or Handles?
    Fez’s are cool – Agree/Disagree?
Series 8 Capaldi or Series 10 Capaldi?
Is he Called ‘The Doctor’ or ‘Dr. Who’ ?

    Love the Podcast 🙂

  6. You seem to have ignored the existence of Cake Pie … pie with a cake filling. Recipe here: http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/tv/hairybikers/mkbrecipes/BAKING-SWEET-Chocolate-Cake-Pie.pdf

Other cake pies are findable via internet searches.

Yaaay! You answered my question. Thanks guys. X

BTW Love and Monsters is severely underrated as an episode. Give it another chance.

In fact there’s another theme for you. Which generally low-rated story would you give another chance?

  8. James said:

    The Teletubbies or The Clangers.

  9. James said:

Jelly Babies or FIsh Fingers & Custard.

  10. Coffee or Tea?
