New Verity!
Hi Verities, enjoyed this episode as always but thought you might be interested to know that in the UK the Voodoo Child song was a huge hit and was pretty much everywhere for a short while. I wasn’t a chart fan at the time and I knew the song before I saw the episode – I checked with a friend in case I was misremembering the order but they agreed too so we’re pretty sure a good proportion of the UK audience would have known the song already.
It’s true! I looked it up and it charted in many non-North American places: UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland… Bot not in the US or Canada!
Rogue Traders are Australian musicians and Nat Bassingthwaite (the singer) was a well know Australian soap star at the time, and man, that song was EVERYWHERE here in 2005. But Australian music rarely makes a splash in North America, so much so that when it does it’s an event. It was interesting listening to the way the Verities reacted to it with that difference of location.
