Our mini-arc on competent women continues with Astrid Ferrier. Join Deb, Erika, Lynne, and Tansy as we dip into the rollicking intrigue-filled delight that is “The Enemy of the World”. Honourable mention to Fariah for also being fab.

Not sure what happened, but Deb’s feed faded way, way into the background at about the 14 minute mark. I can barely hear her without keeping my fingers on the volume button to prevent speaker blow-out when Tansy and Lynne reply to her.
There was a technical issue during recording, and that’s the best we could do; she’s boosted as far as it will go. But the good news is it only lasts for a few minutes, and then she’s back to full volume. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Update! There may be more that can be done to fix the audio issue. Will look into it when I get home from work.

New Verity!
I just want to thank all the verities for the great job you do in making the best doctor who podcast there is. It has given me a new way of looking at doctor who while also helping me get into classic who and the big finish audios. Keep up the good work!
I finally got the chance to listen to the end of this episode. I LOVE Enemy of the World and was also confused as to why Web of Fear was considered the superior episode (not that Web of Fear isn’t perfectly respectable, but Enemy is one of my favorites of the era. It’s one of the few I made sure to have on DVD). I remember being very impressed with both Astrid and Fariah and delighting in just how far the story was willing to go. Right at the point another story would have started wrapping up, this one added a new element that flipped everything on its head. This serial also has what is, of course, one of MY favorite lines, when the Doctor mishears Astrid over the phone and exclaims “Disused Yeti?!” I want to re-watch this now. I’ll try to fit it in before Gally!
Loved this whole discussion, but I have to say the section starting around 1:19 – Jamie’s “girlfriend” line (I too have shipped Jamie and Victoria since I was hay-high! =:o} ), the scene with Ben and Polly, the clear and urgent need for fanfic of that…. YES!!!! =:oD
Double thumbs-up; Would cackle with glee again.
