Six Smart Women Discussing Doctor Who

It’s biscuit (cookie) week! Join Deb, Lizbeth, Lynne, and Tansy as they talk to each other while seeing each other’s faces. Recording while on video is a different beast altogether! Lots of good bake-talk this week. Also, Mel without Sue! What do they think?

What have you baked lately? Let us know in the comments!

What have you baked this week?

  • Lynne has her own buttermilk week, baking biscuits and Irish soda bread in a cast iron pan!
  • Liz ordered artisinal (vegan) biscuits, including chocolate chip, salted caramel, (filthy) fruit shortbread!
  • Tansy helped her daughter bake brownies from a mix from a box (which were later used to make a brownie-and-marshmallow-NASA satellite)!
  • Deb made home-made baked beans, as well as cornbread (with only a teeny bit of sugar) in a cast-iron pan!

Extra-special thanks to James Thomson (of P-Calc and Dice by P-Calc) for this week’s episode art!

It took me a minute to catch on. But thank you for a proper laugh in these unsettled times.

Also — my social distance baking from the last two weeks: banana bread, tomato bread, jalapeno cheese bread, buttermilk rye bread, olive breadsticks, and rosemary foccaccia. Also made four deep-dish pizza crusts, and a batch of arepas (although those are fried, not baked). Will need to stop for a while as I cannot share any of this with family and friends for a while.

  2. Proof that I will listen to you guys talking about anything! (Helps that I like Great British Bake Off). Great episode guys, thanks for the entertainment x

  3. I actually want you to do this regularly! I don’t have too many friends who watch GBBO and it’s great to hear you guys talk about another show I love.

Thanks for a great distraction from the gloom and doom!

  4. I forgot to send this link to Erika! If any of you have kids at home and want to feel like you’re having them do something slightly educational right now…

  5. I was a solid ten minutes in before I remembered it was April 1st. Oh, how I laughed. Thanks for that, there hasn’t been too much laughter at the moment.

  6. Mary Berry is the Doctor. The oldest, most canny person in the room and she has catch phrases.

My baking was Green Death Maggot Scrolls, 2 sheets of frozen piff pasty spread with greem pesto and parmesan cheese folled up and cut into mini cigars

  7. Seven minutes left…I caught on…to what Today’s Date Is!

  8. Your commitment to the joke is impressive and hilarious. Now I want to go back and rewatch the second episode of series seven.

I was so far into my own tasks as I listened that it wasn’t actually until the outro that it dawned on me the whole thing was a joke! Not sure if I’m needing more sleep, more caffeine, or what, but I clearly love listening to y’all talk passionately about things you love, no matter what. ❤

I loved this episode! Always enjoy listening to you and this one I found quite enjoyable. Thank you.

  11. It’s 5:30 in the morning here, and I am outraged! Do you people not realise how many of your listeners rely on listening to Verity! to combat insomnia? How can I settle down to an overdue night’s sleep if I’m doubled up with laughter and gasping for air?!?

And yet again you fail to acknowldge the elephant in the room, which is the indisputable fact that Chris Chibnall is *ruining* GBBO!

    … 12/10, would ROFL again. =;o}

I loved this episode so much and would definitely listen to you all talk about GBBO again. I especially liked that Tansy & Liz were on the episode so we could get food knowledge from three different countries. I didn’t realize it was an April Fools episode until reading the comments since I’m listening much later on. Great job all!
