Happy birthday, Katy Manning! (It’s tomorrow as this ep drops.) Join Deb, Lynne, and Tansy as they bid a fond farewell to Jo Grant in “The Green Death”! We haven’t done a proper goodbye episode since our year of love and lasts!
How do you feel about this as a farewell story for Jo? Drop us a tweet or let us know in the comments!
It’s Lynne’s turn to do a hindsight-check. Join Deb, Katrina, and Lynne as they take a look back at the 3rd Doctor story “The Mutants”. (No, not the 1st Doctor story “The Mutants”. We call that “The Daleks”. Deal with it.)
Have you rewatched this story recently? If so, what did you think, and how did that compare with how you felt about it in the first place? Drop us a tweet or let us know in the comments!
Kat likes having Doctor Who content in the form of UNIT Files (including Kate Lethbridge Stewart)!
It’s another Verity! interview! Deb and Erika do a brief intro for Deb’s on-stage interview with Katy Manning from LI Who! Katy is even more delightful in person than Jo is on screen. And that’s saying something. Hear about…
The time Katy asked Jon Pertwee “What would we do if we didn’t have any arms?”
Katy’s fashion advice: “If you’re going to wear a mini-skirt, you must get matching knickers.”
General observations on life: “That’s kind of what life is you know. You’re a mom, you’re making a lampshade, but also you’re writing a really filthy rap song.”
And this: “I’ve got a collector’s mouth.” (Yes, she explains this, but you’ll have to listen to hear what she means.)
We close out our companion miniseries in fine style with Liz’s pick, “The Curse of Peladon”. Join Deb, Erika, Katrina, and Liz as we discuss Jo’s merits as a companion. They are many–especially in this story. There’s a lot of Jo love, dissension among the ranks as to which Peladon story is better, and even some soul-searching. It’s quite an episode!
What do you think about Jo? Is she as awesome as the Verities think? Or do you still see her as a useless screamer? Let us know in the comments!
Our countdown of the Doctors has reached it’s antepenultimate entry. Whether you were looking forward to it or not, it’s Jon Pertwee time! Join Deb, Erika, Liz, and Lynne as we discuss the pros and cons of the most dapper of Doctors. We also spend a good amount of time talking about Jo and the Master, and we even manage to detour into UK politics of the 70s. And as usual, there is much friendly disagreement!
