It’s time to slow down and get a bit reflective. Inspired by Peter Capaldi’s “farewell tour” at New York Comic Con, Deb, Lynne, and Tansy take a thoughtful look back at Peter Capaldi’s tenure. We discuss the impact he’s had on the show, his legacy and examine his character arc as the 12th Doctor. Sure, we know he has one more story before the serious postmortem’s begin, but we’d rather do this while we can still smile!
What do you think Peter has brought to the role and, more importantly, what do you think his imprint will be on the show? Leave us a comment and let us know what you think!
Our year of loves and lasts continues with a rather big “last”. Join Deb, Erika, Liz, and Lynne as we discuss 1989’s “Survival”, which was a “last” in many ways, although it wasn’t originally intended as such.
How do you feel about 7’s last full story? What did you think of the Cheetah People’s costumes? Is that infamous line really the nadir of Sylvester McCoy’s performances on Doctor Who? Let us know in the comments!
This week’s “last” is a goodbye to a companion we’re all quite fond of, Steven Taylor (not to be confused with Steven Tyler). Join Deb, Erika, Liz, and Tansy as we marvel at the excellence of this story, the excellence of Dodo in it, the excellence of Steven’s reason for leaving the TARDIS, and the total lack of excellence in the general amount of fandom discussion surrounding this story. Why have we heard so little about this one?
Have you watched/read/listened to “The Savages”? Did you love it? Tell us in the comments!
We start our year of love and lasts with the last (regular) appearance with one of the most underrated new Who companions, Martha! Join Deb, Erika, Katrina, and Lynne as we talk about Martha as a companion and how much we all love (or learn to love) how she said goodbye to the Doctor. We also spend a good deal of time talking about why.
How do you feel about Martha and her send-off? Let us know in the comments!
It’s a short, intimate Extra! today. Join Deb and Erika as we introduce our topic for 2017. We’ll be mirroring 2016’s theme of “firsts” by talking about “lasts” and endings. We’ll talk about the final appearances of companions, Doctors, behind-the-scenes folks, and possibly other items! But we don’t want a year of downers (let’s face it, many goodbyes are sad sad sad), so we’re balancing that with the theme of “love”. We’ll also talk about love in Doctor Who as well as things we love about it!
And of course, we’ll be talking about series 10 when that airs. Hooray for new episodes of our show!
What firsts and loves would you like to hear us yammer on about? Let us know in the comments!
